Miami: Top 5 Must Have Experiences
Miami is known for being one of the most vibrant, happening cities on earth. It's a spark plug of energy - thriving with things to do, and see. Just the name of the city conjures up images of neon, sun-kissed beaches, and Will Smith rapping. With so much to experience, it can be a little overwhelming. To help, we've explored the city, and narrowed it down to a list of our top five things no trip to Miami would be complete without experiencing.
Lincoln Road is an outdoor pedestrian mall that stretches for several city blocks. It's a fantastic place to take in more classic Miami architecture, as well as grab dinner, drinks, and get some high-end shopping in. They also have a Laduree here, which always scores big points with us.
Little Havana is named after the capital city in Cuba, which is fitting, as it houses many former citizens of Cuba. We think its noteworthy for having the best coffee we've ever had. Grabbing a Cuban coffee, and equally delicious Cuban pastry should be mandatory while in Miami. We recommend the slightly hidden, hole-in-the-wall, Tinta Y Cafe.
Miami Beach is the beach that people think of when they think of Miami. Stretching on for miles, and lined with shops, hotels, and deco, this is a sun-worshippers paradise. I was told for years, by multiple people, that Miami Beach was the prettiest stretch of water in the continental United States. One look confirmed these claims as true. It's a beautiful beach, with a retro feel, made complete by the iconic, colorful lifeguard stands, and people roller skating behind you.
Take your adventures in Miami outside of just the touristy parts of Miami Beach, and venture into downtown. This is where we found some of the coolest restaurants, architecture, and shopping.
ART DECO DISTRICT
The Art Deco District is part of what makes Miami famous, and contributes to the city having such an immersive feeling to it. The architecture is from the 1920-1930s, and a walking tour is easily self-guided - just start anywhere on Ocean Drive, and take it all in.
Miami is a fantastic city for a short getaway, or for a long, relaxing trip. We love this vibrant city, and we hope that you love it to. Whether you're looking for a place to lay on the beach for a week, or an urban city filled with activities, Miami has something for everyone.
