When photographer Stephen Milner set out to document the ENVIRONMENTal issues PLAGUING georgia’s ogeechee river, he discovered just how important this natural resource is to not only the state – but most IMPORTANTLY its people.

In photographer Stephen Milner’s documentary work, he travelled to capture life along the Ogeechee River. Where a community of hundreds of thousands of Georgians live, as it’s one of the most important resources in the region. A few years back, the Georgian community faced the largest fishing-related disaster in its history, resulting in over 40,000 dead fish. The pollution was caused by illegal activities of King American Finishing, a textile processor in Screen County. However, after a few years of litigation; the situation has improved for the river community.

“Though the future of the river and its faithful community seem bright, the lingering fear of pollution and potential health risks still looms.”
